Deadlock Nurse Harrow Guide: Heal Your Team Without a Disastrous Crash

You buff a teammate, their health stops dropping, and they confidently push forward. A few seconds later, the effect ends and their health collapses. The question in chat is understandable: what just happened? Nurse Harrow’s save can look like invulnerability when she has actually postponed the bill for incoming damage.

Playing her well means connecting three jobs: dealing damage to recover healing resources, collecting leeches, and following a buffed teammate with healing. Focusing on only one leaves the rest of her kit working below its potential.

These mechanics were checked on October 24, 2026. Target selection and timing advice are tactical recommendations to adapt to the fight in front of you.

Wretched Vapors buys time, not erased damage

Harrow’s second ability can target herself or an ally. Specter Rush comes first: actions accelerate, while incoming damage is deferred into specters. Specter Crash follows: actions slow down, and remaining specters return the delayed damage with an extra penalty.

Incoming healing prioritizes removing those specters before they can deal their damage. Consequently, healing can be valuable even when the visible health bar barely rises. It is clearing a liability rather than necessarily adding health immediately.

Before applying the buff, picture how you will handle its ending. Are Healing Needles ready? Can you see the teammate? Can they leave enemy fire while you heal? Without answers, the buff can become permission to accumulate more delayed damage than you can manage.

A useful situation gives an ally a short window for an important action while you remain positioned to heal afterward. A dangerous one has them disappear around a distant corner as you apply the buff and turn your attention elsewhere.

In an emergency, delaying damage may give a doomed teammate time for another action. That is an attempt to recover value from the moment, not a promise that they will survive the crash.

Healing Needles starts with resource management

The third ability loads your weapon with healing syringes. Shots heal allies on contact. Dealing damage restores ability charges, and collected leeches slowly restore them too.

Reloading spends a charge on a fresh magazine. Unused syringes are refunded as a partial charge, and recasting lets you put them away. An automatic reload after every short interaction therefore deserves more thought here: you are managing a healing reserve as well as a magazine.

Before fighting, check whether you have enough available for the teammate you intend to support. During the exchange, choose a position that allows repeated hits rather than one impressive opening shot. When immediate healing is unnecessary and your position allows it, return to dealing damage to prepare the next healing cycle.

If you are playing beside Harrow, help her find reliable shots. Offer a clear line instead of disappearing around every corner and expecting automatic recovery. That does not mean standing still under enemy fire. Aim for an accessible position behind cover or along a safe retreat.

Leech Therapy connects survival and support

The first ability throws a jar of leeches. They attach to enemies, deal Spirit damage over time and reduce the remaining duration of enemy buffs. After feeding, they can be collected to heal Harrow from the health drained and build bonuses to health regeneration and fire rate.

Collected leeches also help replenish Healing Needles and increase the ultimate’s fear duration. A useful throw contributes now; a safe pickup supports later exchanges.

However, persistent bonuses do not remove the risk of collection. Death costs 25% of accumulated leech stacks. Walking into focused fire to retrieve another pickup can lose more progress than it gains.

Stamina draining belongs to Leech Therapy’s first upgrade. Do not treat the base jar as though it already removes that movement resource. Also, shortening buff duration is not the same as instantly purging every possible effect.

Lurking Terrors cares where enemies are looking

The ultimate deals Spirit damage to enemies in front of Harrow. Enemies looking at her build terror and cannot use stamina or movement abilities. At maximum terror, they flee away from her in fear.

This is not an immediate stun on everyone in an area. Facing direction, buildup and forced movement are separate parts of the effect. Enemies facing away take reduced damage unless they are already feared.

Your team should think about where the targets will retreat. Driving enemies away from an injured ally can accomplish a defensive goal without producing a kill. Offensively, look for a position where teammates can keep pressuring the enemies as they move away.

Damage immunity while channeling arrives only with the final upgrade. It is not part of the base ultimate. Immunity to damage also does not, by itself, mean immunity to every form of crowd control.

Opponents can have specific exceptions too. Warden’s current Last Stand description explicitly gives him fear immunity while it is active. Do not assume Lurking Terrors will force him to flee during that window.

Choose upgrades around the problem you face

Healing Needles’ first upgrade adds a maximum charge. The second improves healing and lets shots restore stamina. The third improves scaling and adds duration extension for non-ultimate buffs, subject to their maximum duration.

Wretched Vapors’ second upgrade increases duration and healing effectiveness. Dispelling non-ultimate debuffs arrives with its third upgrade. Do not expect that cleanse before investing in it.

Identify what is preventing effective support: exhausted charges, insufficient healing or a position you cannot hold. That answer is more useful than a universal order copied from an unrelated match. Keeping the healer alive matters especially when teammates expect you to clear their delayed damage.

A manageable plan for one fight

Pick an ally you can support from a reachable position. Apply Vapors before a deliberate action, rather than simply because an enemy appeared. Track the developing risk and keep healing as the ally leaves pressure. Then replenish your healing resource and collect available leeches when the ground is safe.

Opponents can disrupt this cycle with incoming-healing reduction. The anti-heal guide covers which effects to use and who needs the debuff. If your own survival falls apart because of the wrong defensive purchase, review the incoming damage types first.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wretched Vapors make an ally invulnerable?

It delays incoming damage. Remaining specters return that damage with a penalty after the rush ends. A successful save needs a healing plan and a route out of danger, not just the initial buff.

Why does healing barely move the health bar during Vapors?

Healing prioritizes removing specters. It can prevent later damage even when the immediate health gain looks small. That behavior is part of the mechanic and is not, by itself, evidence that the syringes are malfunctioning.

Can I spend the whole match healing without attacking?

Dealing damage helps restore Healing Needles charges, so refusing to attack gives up that source of recovery. Leeches also replenish the resource, but alternating support with safe pressure uses more of the kit.

Do leeches drain stamina as soon as I unlock the ability?

No. Stamina drain comes from Leech Therapy’s first upgrade. The base ability deals Spirit damage and shortens buffs, with its collection rewards available after the leeches finish feeding.

Does Harrow’s ultimate revive a teammate?

No. Lurking Terrors is a directional damage and fear ability. It affects the enemies in front of Harrow rather than returning a dead ally to the fight.
